Litter box training
Some kittens come to you already litter box trained but some aren’t.
Should your kitten not be litter box trained, you need to show them the litter box and just let it sniff around (when you’ve shown your kitten the box don’t move it in case they wonder where it is). When they’ve just eaten and if they look like they’re going to go to the toilet place them in the litter box so they can go to the toilet if they need it. Reward them with a treat or a toy if they go to the toilet in the litter box. Don’t scold them for accidents as they won’t associate it with the incident.
Scratching
To stop them from scratching you need to be nice and don’t do stuff to them that’s outside their comfort zone unless it’s necessary. To stop them from scratching sofas and other places you want to remain unscratched put a scratching post or mat next to it.
Food
To start, give a quarter to half a packet of kitten wet food a day. If they don’t eat it don’t try and wait them out because they’re very unlikely to eat it and will develop hepatic lipidosis which is a liver disease that is caused when they don’t eat enough because of unacceptable foods. For kitten dry food refill their bowl at mealtimes.
